Ok this is going to be short and sweet.
If your soul is eaten you are gone forever without any kind of way to be saved. You have to make a new character.
If your soul somehow is not eaten then you have more room. If you are a meister or demon weapon you can enter the body of a human transforming them into a strong souled human and gaining a character under that right after you are approved as a now strong souled human. All memories are kept but all powers and skills are lost.
If you are a witch and you are killed and your soul is not eaten you can possess the body of anyone who let's your representation touch their tongue. Once the tongue is touched you completely possess their body and will go through a process of 25 posts IC in the new body before you gain all of your witch powers back into that body. The process goes as follows. With all memories retained.
0 posts-5 posts. No powers just a normal human being.
6 posts-9 posts. You gain back a single spell.
10 posts-15 posts. You gain back two spells.
16 posts-20 posts. You gain back three spells.
21 posts-25 posts. You gain back all but one spell.
25+posts. You gain back all of your witch spells and powers.
